NUM to march against IPPs, retrenchments and the privatization of Eskom tomorrow

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) is gearing itself up for an inter-sectorial march to be staged at the Unions Building in Pretoria tomorrow (17th of November 2018). We call upon all workers organised in the mining, energy and construction sectors, community members, truck associations, our sister unions in Cosatu, the ANC alliance partners to prepare themselves so that they can join us on the 17th November 2018 to peacefully march in a protest against the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and the privatisation of Eskom through backdoors.

 

NUM Kwazulu-Natal to embark on a protest march against IPPs and Eskom privatization

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) in Kwazulu-Natal will be marching against the IPPs, Eskom privatisation, closing of power stations and coal mines tomorrow (Saturday 17th November 2018 ) at Dales Park in Pietermaritzburg. The march will start at 10:00.

The National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) PWV Region regard the march tomorrow against the IPPs as the beginning of a protracted war against the attack directed on working class and the poor by the South African government through IPPs and the closure of power stations and coal mines which will cause many workers to join the army of unemployed and throw millions of South African population into a sea of poverty.

DENOSA statement on the remaining status quo at unsafe Ramokonopi CHC in Katlehong
