COSATU President to address the International Gender Conference on Decent Work tomorrow at St Georges Hotel, Irene

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is scheduled to participate in an International Gender Conference at St Georges Conference Centre at Irene from tomorrow, the 9th June until on Friday, the 12th June 2015.
The International Gender Conference will be convened under the Theme, “Decent Work”: Building a comprehensive supportive policy environment for women workers’ and COSATU President is scheduled to address the opening session.
Amongst the other important presentation to be received are, on the National Health Insurance(NHI), National Minimum Wage Definition of a convention and processes of ratification Provision of the ILO Convention 183 on Maternity Protection, the National perspective on maternity protection /Maternity leave v/s UIF, the UIF Contributions holiday proposed by National Treasury and COSATU’s Responses, Still searching for transformative Equality Debate: Comparative study on Maternity and work SA – UKRAINE, Incorporation of ILO Maternity Protection Convention 183 to national legislations by other countries, Commission for Gender Equality ‘s perspective and COSATU’s Approach to Maternity Protection.
The Conference will collapse into various Commissions dealing with the National Health Insurance, the National Minimum Wage and Maternity Protection.
And a Declaration will be tabled for adoption, with a Programme of Action [PoA].
The Conference will receive presentations from various organizations such as the International Labour Organization [ILO], Solidarity Center, AFL-CIO, Commission for Gender Equality, SALRC, CGE, SALRC, Legal Resource Centre, NALEDI, The Department of labour and from Researchers.
