COSATU Limpopo 4th Provincial Congress Declaration as held on the 24th-26th June 2015 at Bolivia Lodge, Polokwane, Limpopo

We, the 4th Provincial Congress of the Congress of South African Trade Unions [COSATU] in Limpopo, attended by more than 750 voting delegates, representing 14 affiliates in good standing, effectively and collectively representing no less than 190 000 members in the province over as well as our international partners, the Zimbabwean Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), held on the 24-26 June 2015 at Bolivia lodge in Polokwane under the Theme “Sebatakgomoo!!! ‘Defend unity of the workers and reposition COSATU towards the radical transformation of society” hereby declare;
On Political Issues
The Congress reaffirmed its unwavering support for the African National Congress [ANC] as a leader of the Alliance in the forthcoming local government elections premised by the renewed commitment by all alliance partners to work for the unity of the Alliance to accelerate our advances and protect the gains of the National Democratic Revolution [NDR].
The Congress further re-affirmed its determination guided by the renewed relative stability in the ANC in our province to work very hard to sustain that momentum and assist the leader of the Alliance to ensure that the African National Congress Youth League [ANCYL] and African National Congress Women’s League [ANCWL] overcome its organisational challenges.
On organisational Issues
The Congress re-affirmed the importance of our character as a transformative Federation guided by our understanding that workplace struggles and political struggles must be intertwined to achieve a solid, united and campaigning COSATU going forward.
The Congress re-affirmed the correctness of the Federation’s decision to offload NUMSA and Vavi from our fold as a concrete step towards building sustainable unity of purpose in the Federation.
The Congress further re-affirmed the primacy of union education and will endeavour to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the gains of our glorious Chris Hani Brigade are accelerated, protected and localised
The Congress further re-affirmed to take advantage of our political muscle to buttress SETA’s as well as CCMA and Universities to skill our members
On socio economic Issues
We declare as this glorious Congress that we will continue our fight for total ban of labour broking, privatization, casualization, agentization and an elephant in the room called e-tolling that serve as an albatross on the necks of our people, particularly the working class and the poor.
The Federation will further ensure that Limpopo development plan realises its objectives to amongst other things the creation of decent jobs through inclusive economic growth and improvement of the quality of life of the citizens of the province.
Congress further re-affirmed the correctness of the ANC 2012 Strategy and Tactics on the building of developmental state and will campaign for the improvement of clean audit outcomes of provincial government and municipalities guided by correct deployment of leadership post-reconfiguration of municipalities as well as cabinet reshuffle.
On international Issues
We declare as the 4th Provincial Congress that COSATU must continue its international work in solidarity with workers of the world as we respond to the clarion call “Workers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose, but your chains”.
That we recommit ourselves to the principle of working class internationalism and vow to work very hard guided by the Marxist Leninist ideology and our commitment to the struggle for Socialism in recognising the importance of working class internationalism; vows, within the context of African unity, to continue our campaign for the release of Comrade, Amos Mbedzi by the Tinkundla regime of Swaziland as well as the withdrawal of our country within the International Criminal Court [ICC] in support of African Court on Human and People s ’rights.
On election of new Provincial Office Bearers
The Congress elected the following Provincial Office Bearers without any contest (unopposed)
