COSATU demands action against those threatening and intimidating staff members at the Auditor-General (AG)'s office

5 December 2017

The Congress of South African Trade Unions is calling for an investigation of the allegations of staff intimidation at the Auditor-General (AG)'s office by some public officials. We need swift and decisive action against all these people ,who are using thuggish methods to try and coerce and stopping the Auditor-Generalís office from exposing their nefarious activities.

This is an intolerable behavior and if we are to resolve the problem of fraud and wasteful expenditure, we need to protect those who are committed to doing their work honestly.

The Auditor Generalís report has painted a very gloomy picture of gross mismanagement of the public resources and irregular expenditure. This dreadful mismanagement of the countryís resources is the source of our deepening poverty and unemployment in this country. We salute the Auditor General Kimi Makwetu and his staff members and we urge them not to allow intimidation to stop them from continuing with their good work.
