COSATU Limpopo congratulate the ANC for a successful 09th Provincial Conference

27 June 2018 The Congress of South African Trade Unions in Limpopo wishes to hereby congratulate the African National Congress for an incident free, peaceful and smooth 09th Provincial Conference on the 22nd - 24th June 2018 at the The Ranch - Protea Hotel. This conference was characterized by revolutionary spirit of camaraderie, unity, renewal and discipline amongst delegates. The threat of a possibility of a court interact did not deter delegates from striving to unite and strengthen the movement in the province. Hence the federation wishes to appeal to all members of our movement to use internal processes of the movement to resolve their dissatisfaction and disputes rather than donating the conflict resolution and political decision-making powers to the judiciary. Our disquiet thou is that the conference was unable to discuss its organization report as part of assessing the work of the ANC, its alliance and the state of government in the province. We hope the newly elected ANC PEC collective would convene a special Provincial General Council in due course to complete the work of the conference. At the same breath, we wish to congratulate and welcome the newly elected ANC PEC collective led by the Provincial Chairperson comrade Chupu Stanley Mathabatha. The federation had indeed wished to see comrade Chupu Stanley Mathabatha being retained in his position of the Provincial Chairperson and we are excited that there was a unanimous support of this view by branches of the ANC. We also wish to specially congratulate leaders from the SACP, former and current leaders from COSATU who were elected as part of the ANC PEC collective. Our view is that we would have loved to see many leaders from the left elected but at the same time appreciating the multi-class character of the ANC. We pledge our support to the newly elected ANC PEC collective and commit to work with them to renew, unite and build a strong alliance as we prepare for the 2019 General Elections. We expect the newly elected ANC PEC to be alive to the socio-economic challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality facing the majority of the working class and the poor in the province. We expect the newly elected leadership to be alive to the weaknesses and challenges of financial mismanagement and corruption, including the VBS saga facing local government in our province. We expect the newly elected leadership to be alive of the challenges faced by workers in their various workplaces in the province. We expect the newly elected leadership to be alive of the fact that the debate on the reconfiguration of the alliance is inevitable and that there is an urgent need to resuscitate the alliance as the political centre in the province. The federation therefore wishes the newly elected great success during their term of office.
