Toll gate action on 31/12/2012
28 December 2012
COSATU North West are going ahead with our protest action as planned; we have applied in time and our action against the expensive toll gate is proceeding on the 31/Dec3mber 2012 from 14h00 until late as planned.
We are reminding all workers, all motorists, communities and the users of the N4 road that our action against the expensive toll gate is on.
We call on the municipality of Kgetleng to take responsibility for all the legal action because we applied in time as per the Gatherings Act and they decided not to call a triangle meeting of all stake holders so that we are told is late.
The municipality only responded to our call when we were enquiring about our application on the 27/12/2012 and we were told that we must postpone due to holidays and we are not agreeing to that.
We are asking the police that we are not undermining their responsibilities but to send a clear message to the municipality that we are not going to agree to disrespected by anybody including being undermined by the municipality of Kgetleng, no one is about the law and therefore we have followed the procedure and we are going ahead with our action and we are ready to be arrested if it is the plan from the municipality to arrest us.
We are calling all our members, taxi associations and our supporters to join us at the expensive toll gate as part of our campaign against the e tolling system including the Swartruggens toll plaza under Bakwena and SANRAL.
We will not rest until our demands are meet, our national and provincial government must respond in full in our memorandums that were submitted to them more than six times.
We are requesting the media to expose the attitude of our municipalities that are controlled by factions including leaders who has no interest of the voters but have interest of capitalist which is the enemy of our working class.
