4 May 2014

Norman Mampane, COSATU Communications Officer, 4 May 2014

As early as five o’clock, the First National Bank Stadium, a few kilometres from the South Western Townships, was abuzz with thousands, who descended to declare their support for the African National Congress in the coming elections on May 7.

Workers from all sectors of the economy proudly wore their Affiliates paraphernalia, to vigorously implement the September 2012 National Congress resolution taken at Midrand, Johannesburg, to support the African National Congress in the elections.

Alliance partners in their messages, all soundly pronounce an ANC election victory.

The Congress of South African Trade Unions President, Cde Sidumo Dlamini said ‘we will paint the country green, yellow, black and also red on the day of the election, to take a radical transformation of society at all fronts. COSATU President as called for the total banning of labour brokers, who he said are ‘a curse to society’.

He concluded by saying ‘COSATU supports the ANC, COSATU in South Africa under the banner of the largest Federation, working with Alliance partners, the South African Communist Party and the ANC to deal with its internal challenges to foster unity, declares its full support for the ANC Election victory’.

‘To the opposition, we have seen your tricks, you have adopted dances like us, you have adopted red colours like us, and however, we know our liberators. We know the ANC is still standing with us and we have gone many miles together. We will still continue to go with the ANC on other miles to build a future for South Africa’, wrapped Dlamini.

ANC Leagues also delivered their amplified messages for a decisive victory for the African National Congress.
